Deafhood and Interpreters

This workshop is unique as it promotes a different perspective of our role as interpreters and enhances our understanding of Deaf culture. It is to explore the new paradigm described as Deafhood. Definitions and theories of culture will be explained and demonstrated through a historical and sociological perspective of the lives of Deaf people around the world. Historical implications on current pathological practises of providing services and education for Deaf people in the world today will also be examined.  Live streaming will be available, link will be provided to all ticket holders 24 hours before the event. You can decide if you would like to attend in person or watch via live stream.
